Wheelchair Basketball

Most people would be surprised to find wheelchair basketball is an extremely competitive and increasingly popular sport! The game is played just like NCAA-sanctioned basketball with only a few exceptions. The LWSRA Rolling Falcons are extremely proud to bring this sport to the LWSRA Area. It's just one way to expose everyone to this great game, as well as highlight some of the Midwest's finest talents.

Players:  Any individual who, because of permanent severe leg disability of paralysis of the lover portion of the body, will benefit through participation in wheelchair basketball and who could be denied the opportunity to play basketball were it not for the wheelchair adaptation, is eligible. To be eligible for wheelchair basketball you must have any form of physical impairment. The LWSRA Rolling Falcons consist of boys and girls from 5 – 17 years old from around the South Suburbs of Chicago. The Wheelchair Basketball season runs from November through April.

Please note: Individuals do not have to be in a wheelchair everyday to play wheelchair basketball.

LWSRA's wheelchair basketball program is designed for children with physical disabilities who have an interest in: Challenging social and sport activities, improving their physical health, meeting new friends, and experiencing the challenge of competition. Additionally, the program offers an excellent opportunity for family members (parents, siblings and spouses) to get together and network socially in a safe and accepting environment. No experience is required.
